Michael Novak

Licensed Psilocybin Facilitator

My calling is to work with psychedelic journeyers and psilocybin mushrooms to co-create safe and beneficial experiences that inspire peace, transformation, and awe.

I have explored consciousness and healing with psychedelics since early adulthood. I healed a decades-long addiction to alcohol, in part, through intentional use of psilocybin mushrooms. The mushrooms helped me deepen a practice of offering compassion, kindness, and forgiveness to the parts of my mind-body I hadn’t attended to while on the path of addiction.

Together, we will prioritize your safety and well-being as you prepare for, experience, and integrate your psychedelic journey.

About Michael Novak

Since 2014, I have been practicing peer-supported psychedelic use in community with other people committed to safe psychedelic exploration.  Through my experiences on both sides of the facilitator-journeyer relationship, I’ve developed practical skills for preparing the set and setting for a psychedelic journey.

The moment I heard about the ballot measure to legalize supervised psilocybin use in Oregon (Measure 109), I felt a strong pull to become a licensed facilitator. I worked on both the state-wide legalization campaign and the subsequent local campaign to keep psilocybin services available in rural areas of southern Oregon.

My life partner Ana Holub and I co-founded Safe Nest, an educational forum supporting couples, close friends, and family members seeking to deepen their relationships through psychedelic co-journeys.

In late 2023, I completed the Synthesis Psychedelic Practitioner Core Training – Oregon Edition. Prior to becoming a licensed psilocybin facilitator, I worked for 28 years as a hydrogeologist and human-health risk assessor, investigating and cleaning up contaminated water, land, and air across the U.S.

Facilitating Your Journey

I offer gentle and thoughtful support for people to explore their relationship with psilocybin. Some important things to know about working with me are:

  • My facilitation approach is non-directive — I will not be your “shaman.”
  • I will not ask you to adopt any beliefs or practices that are not your own.
  • We will work together to discover which gifts you already have and how they can support your psychedelic journey, including the transformations that may follow.
  • I will thoroughly describe all aspects of the journey environment including language, touch, sounds, and sights. We will adapt these elements to your needs, doing our best to minimize external sensations that could trigger emotional, religious, or other traumas while you are in a vulnerable and expanded state of consciousness.
